Prunus amaygdalus var. amara (Benzaldehyde). Amandel wordt zeer intensief geteeld in het hele Middellandse Zee bekken en California. Onze etherische olie is afkomstig van de bittere variant in tegenstelling tot de bekende basis-/ draagolie uit de Zoete Amandel ( Prunus dulcis ). In de etherische olie bevindt zich vanzelfsprekend geen Pruisisch zuur omwille van de toxiciteit. Deze olie bevat praktisch alleen benzaldehyde. Deze stof wordt op grote schaal synthetisch geproduceerd voor verwerking in voeding en dranken. Je kunt de olie dus gebruiken als smaakmaker. Verder heeft Amandel een pijn- en krampstillend effect. Afkomstig uit Egypte van conventionele teelt.
